The Retained Search

The retained search is our principal activity, and with this service we assume complete responsibility for the identification and evaluation of candidates for employment. This service includes not only the recruitment of candidates who meet the qualifications determined necessary for successful job performance, but also a thorough interview of each final candidate and a background investigation to determine the appropriateness of technical and personal qualifications.

Prior to accepting a search assignment, we must meet with the principals involved in the process. Since we represent the client-company to prospective candidates, it is crucial that we have an intimate knowledge of the company's history, the position and its responsibilities, and every element which will affect the successful candidate's working environment. Following our visit, we submit a proposal which includes a description of our understanding of the assignment, along with a plan for the search effort.

While the unique characteristics of each search will determine timing and detailed procedures, the principal steps of the search process are as follows:

  • Discovery, identification and development of all candidates and preliminary evaluations of qualified candidates

  • Identification and in-depth evaluation of potential final candidates via reference checks, background investigations, and face-to-face interviews

  • Presentation of final candidates to client

  • Coordination of client evaluations and interview of final candidates

  • Selection with client of the final candidate and negotiation of terms of employment

With the successful completion of the search, we guarantee that the recommended candidate will perform to expectations and remain in the client's employ for an economic period of time -- a duration which the client defines. We are able to offer such a guarantee because we participate in virtually every step of the pre-employment and early employment process. We play an active role in the entire process in order to ensure that a mutually satisfactory personal and professional association will develop.
